Compaq entered the consumer personal computer market in 1992 and
chose PFS:WindowWorks over Microsoft Works for Windows. PFS:WindowWorks was
designed in-house by Spinnaker Software and beat Microsoft Works for Windows to Market by
four months.
Compaq enters into an OEM agreement
with PowerQuest to use their Drive Image and PartitionMagic software
utilities as Compaq's primary line of defense against consumer computer
systems corrupted by end-users.
